The Douglas Hyde Foundation supports the creation of an internship and mentoring scheme for U.S. learners of Irish at third level. This scheme would facilitate the immersion of young Americans learning Irish at university level in an Irish-speaking work environment, in both Gaeltacht and non-Gaeltacht areas in Ireland. There are numerous media and private companies in Ireland which operate through the Irish language, and the Douglas Hyde Foundation is interested in building an Irish language bridge across the Atlantic to facilitate closer Irish-language ties between Ireland and the United States.
